It was announced Monday morning that the Town of Culver is part of a crowdfunding campaign to gather funds to build an amphitheater in the Culver Town Park.
The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) is partnering with the town in this effort where the agency will match $30,000 if the town can raise $30,000 toward the project. The town has until June 30 to round up donations. About a third of it has been collected so far.
The $143,000 project already has grant support from the Marshall County Community Foundation in the amount of $25,000, but another healthy funding chunk is needed to make this project a reality.
The preliminary plans for the Lake Maxinkuckee Amphitheater call for four rows of tiered grass seating with concrete retaining walls. Additional open seating areas would be available around the stage and under trees.
If funding can be obtained, the engineering and design work would begin in September with construction to begin in October. The dedication ceremony is tentatively scheduled for May of next year.
