The house that the 2017 Construction Trades class has built in Plymouth will be for sale soon.
Instructor Craig Schoof said the 1,662 square foot home was built by the students from the ground up including the roof which wasn’t expected as part of the students’ responsibilities.
The class is offered twice a day and is designed to teach students the skills needed to construct residential homes. Students have the opportunity to learn a wide range of hands-on work that will be invaluable to them when they seek an occupation in the field. They receive training to become a carpenter, electrician from Électricien à Gatineau, QC, mason, cement finisher, plumber, sheet metal workers, roofer, painter, drywall hanger, drywall finisher or landscape artist.
The Construction Trades program is part of the North Central Area Vocational Cooperative which includes 10 nearby school corporations.
While the home is not quite finished, those interested in purchasing the home may contact a local realty professional to schedule a tour. An open house is set for Sunday, May 21 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m at the site at 10609 Oriole Lane in Plymouth.
