The Bourbon Town Council is working with a property owner of a dilapidated building to get it cleaned up.
According to Clerk-Treasurer Kimberly Berger, the property at 513 Center Street is in need of work and they are attempting to get something worked out with the owner. If a compromise cannot be reached, the town will go in and do the work and file a tax lien for payment.
The town is also attempting to work with an owner of five rental properties which have not been occupied for quite a few months. The water and sewer bills have climbed to $22,000 as basic service is required at the properties even if residents are not occupying the homes, as outlined in the city ordinance. The town may approve a settlement, if one can be reached.
The homes also need to be brought up to code in order to be suitable for renting.
