The Triton Community School Board discussed proposed building projects for this coming year.
Superintendent Donna Burroughs said a facility study was conducted in the fall that identified the corporation’s needs.
“It was identified that we need a new heating and cooling system at the elementary school, we need a new roof at the high school and we should look at a new gym. We’ve been using the old Bourbon gym and it’s in need of a lot of repair,” said Burroughs.
An architect presented initial drawing plans for a new gym for the board Monday night. The proposed cost of the project is $4 million.
Since only one member of the community spoke about the project, Burroughs said a community meeting will be held in the next couple of weeks to present more information to members of the public.
“For the people who maybe couldn’t come but they want to talk about the gym for any reason, the board will set up another meeting with the architect. The board just wanted to get some community input. We’re just moving along but we’re trying to make sure the community knows what we’re doing. We’re trying to be very transparent.”
