The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will be getting four new squad cars this year.
The sheriff’s department is trading in four multi-purpose vehicles used as spare patrol vehicles or transport vehicles as well as reserve unit vehicles. Three out of the four are Crown Victoria patrol cars.
Two vehicles date back to 2009 with the oldest trade-in vehicle being a 2006 Ford Taurus. One 2011 model is also being replaced.
The new vehicles will be Ford Explorer interceptors. Three will be fully marked for the patrol division and one unmarked for the detective bureau.
One patrol car was replaced earlier this year that was deemed totaled in a crash.
The Marshall County Commissioners approved a pre-pay request on Monday morning made by Sheriff Matt Hassel to pick up the vehicles at Oliver Ford in Plymouth. The total cost is $76,124.
