The first round of Marshall County Community Foundation grants was announced this week.
Twenty-two organizations in Marshall County received $122,588 in unrestricted funds through the Marshall County Community Foundation. Unrestricted funds are the most flexible and responsible of the Foundation’s 347 funds in addressing current and emergent needs. These funds support the arts, education, health and human services, recreation and the environment.
Some of the bigger grants approved include one for the Town of Culver Park and Recreation Department. The organization was awarded $25,000 for the construction of a 175-seat outdoor amphitheater at the Culver Park on Lake Maxinkuckee. The Wythougan Valley Preservation Council was the recipient of a $20,000 grant for the repair of the Rees Theater in downtown Plymouth. The Plymouth Park Department received $15,600 for event fencing while the United Way of Marshall County’s request for $10,000 was approved for a match for the “On My Way” Pre K program. The JESSE program will have help with a $10,000 grant for the collaboration with the Handmaids of Jesus Christ ministries at the Center at Donaldson to train Ancilla College students to serve as job coaches for special needs students.
