Local Marching Band to Participate in IPL 500 Festival Parade

The Indy 500 Festival announced the participants in the 2017 IPL 500 Festival Parade.

The Marshall County Marching Band with 225 students from Plymouth, Bremen, LaVille, Triton, Culver, and Argos will perform in the 61st annual event on Saturday, May 27 in downtown Indianapolis. The combined band was organized by Plymouth High School Band Director Bryan Ames.

The group will be among 13 bands to march in one of the nation’s largest parades, beginning in Memorial Park and traveling south on Pennsylvania Street. More than 300,000 spectators line the parade route and over one million television viewers witness the pre-race tradition every year. The parade will also feature floats, balloons, notable celebrities, and the 33 drivers of the Indianapolis 500.

The 2017 IPL 500 Festival Parade Theme focuses on Accelerating the American Spirit – giving Hoosiers the green light to ignite their red, white and blue passion.

The parade festivities will begin at 11:45 a.m. Parade tickets are $15 and are available online or at the 500 Festival’s Ticket Office at 21 Virginia Avenue in downtown Indianapolis.
