Kokomo Man, Police Officers Injured during Investigation

A Kokomo man was arrested following a struggle with Plymouth police officers.

The officers were called to the area of North Michigan Street and Plymouth-Goshen Trail shortly after 3 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving information that a woman was screaming for help and being held against her will.

The suspect, Ross Winegardner, reportedly physically fought with two officers during the investigation. Police say Winegardner was intoxicated and had outstanding warrants in Howard County and Miami County.

Winegardner, 28, was treated and released from the hospital and then taken to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked on preliminary charges of battery to law enforcement, domestic battery and public intoxication.

The two responding officers were injured in the incident. They were both treated at a local hospital and released.
