John Glenn School Board Approves Voting Member to Head Start Consortium

The John Glenn School Board approved an action to place Superintendent Richard Reese as the school’s representative on the St. Joseph/Elkhart County Head Start Consortium Board of Directors.

Superintendent Reese explained that the John Glenn School Corporation is part of the head start consortium that encompasses about 10 school corporations. Head start classes are available at the local school corporation for students ages three and four. There are certain restrictions.

Reese said these classes have been offered at the school for students for the past 13 years. He hopes that federal funding will continue to be able to provide early education to children before they enter kindergarten.

Applications are currently being accepted into the program. Students who will be the age of three by Aug. 1 within the John Glenn School Corporation or in the surrounding area are welcome to apply. The program is four days per week. During the head start program year, the teachers and students will follow the school corporation’s calendar in which they reside. Transportation will be provided by the corporation transportation departments.
