An informational meeting to help educate the public on immigration and immigration status of the temporary residents in support of the Latino population is set for this week.
According to Jim Smart, who is helping to organize this event, the hope is to help bridge the gap to help those in the community.
“We’re trying to open it up the community so they have a better understanding of what immigration is,” said Smart. “Further on down the line maybe we can provide services such as English as a second language, tutoring and citizenship for those who are in need.”
Smart said this community outreach effort was spearheaded by a program at Plymouth High School.
“It was a right to know meeting on immigration. It helped to understand their rights, getting them help, providing services and other aspects which we’re trying to continue.” People can check out an immigration lawyer Landerholm Immigration, A.P.C. in Oakland, CA if they want any legal help with immigration.
An ecumenical group from St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the St. Thomas Episcopal Church invites residents to the informational meeting planned for Wednesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Plymouth.
