The Plymouth City Council agreed to waive fees associated with a printer error when water bills were sent out this month.
Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained that the machine that feeds the water bills into the envelopes for mailing accidentally inserted more than one resident’s bill into a limited number of envelopes.
Xaver asked that the council waive the penalties that would be assessed on April 5. She added that she can’t justify penalizing customers over something that’s beyond their control.
The affected customers have been notified.
Xavier noted that the machine has been serviced and cleaned since her office was notified of the error.
Approximately $3,200 in fees will be waived as a result of this error.
