Synthetic Marijuana, Methamphetamine Allegedly Found in Bourbon Traffic Stop

Two people were arrested after a traffic stop allegedly turned up synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine. Bourbon Police say that around 8:15 Thursday night, they got a report that a white Pontiac with a possibly impaired driver was heading northbound on State Road 331 from State Road 10.

Police located the car and pulled it over. They discovered the driver, 39-year-old Chastity A. Clem of Peru was driving while suspended at an infraction level. The drugs were allegedly found after further investigation.

Clem and the front-seat passenger, identified as 57-year-old Vernon R. Sargent of Nappanee, were placed under arrest and taken to the Marshall County Jail. Officers say a teenage boy who was also in the car was picked up by family members.
