Marshall County is taking part in a statewide art contest depicting historic or current courthouses located in each Indiana county.
The Indiana State Bar Association courthouse collection is highly eclectic and contains oils, watercolors, pen and ink drawings, pastels and more.
Locally Heartland Artists Gallery is hosting the Marshall County Courthouse ART Project. The prize for first place is $1,000, and the winning art project will be on permanent display at the Indiana State Bar Association in Indianapolis.
Photography, abstracts and wet paint will not be accepted. All entry submissions must be framed, and all pieces must be for sale. Also artists must be at least 16, and all entries must be original work completed within the past year.
Entry forms need to be postmarked by June 3, 2017, with a $10 entry fee per piece enclosed. Artwork must be hand-delivered to Heartland Artists Gallery, 101 N. Michigan St. in Plymouth on June 9 and 10.
Judging will take place the week of June 12-16, and entries will be on display at the Marshall County Visitors Center June 16-24 as part of “Art in the Street.”
The artwork will be juried by a panel of judges that include Marshall Circuit Judge Curtis Palmer and Superior Court Judge Dean Colvin.
