Culver Town Council Approves Winter Fest Permit

The Culver Town Council has given its blessing for the upcoming Winter Fest event. They recently approved the use of the town park for the festival, which is scheduled Feb. 10-12.

This year’s theme is “Walking in a Winter Wonderland.” Festivities begin Friday night at 5 p.m. with the Cupids Crawl. Shop for great deals at local businesses, tour downtown Culver to see the ice sculptures on display, and cap off the with the Ugly Snowsuit Competition at Lakehouse Grill.

Start Saturday morning by taking part in the Cupids Dash 5k, 2.5 mile fun run or yoga at the Beach Lodge, and enjoy a pancake breakfast at the Train Depot. Several ice carving demonstrations will also take place on Saturday.

A free ice fishing camp for children is scheduled Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Children of all ages will be sledding in the town park and ice skating on the lake throughout the weekend. Skates and sleds will be available for use.

Cap off Saturday’s activities with the 6:30 p.m. Gow Skate, S’mores, Hot Chocolate and Bonfire at the Beach Lodge.

The North American Ice Fishing Tournament, sponsored by Marshall County Tourism, begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Teams will begin weighing their catch of the day at 1 p.m.

Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. brave men and women will dive into the icy cold water of Lake Maxinkuckee during the polar plunge. All proceeds will go to charity.
