The Marshall County Health Department is gearing up for its move to the Community Resource Center.
Health Department Administrator Christine Stinson told the county commissioners Tuesday employees have started packing, and the move is set for the last week in January or first week in February. “We’ve hired a company to move the safe, and to move the refrigeration for the vaccines will be moved by a company that handles all of that, so we don’t have that,” she added. “And then everything else is moved by maintenance.”
However, she said the new VOIP phone system will mean new phone numbers for the Health Department. “In order to be able to keep it, it was going to delay the move,” she explained, “so I said ‘I don’t want to delay the move any more. Just go ahead and change the phone numbers and start fresh over there.'” The new phone numbers are expected to be announced publicly in the near future.
Meanwhile, the county commissioners approved some additions to the project. A change order for lighting upgrades, fire alarm devices, and other changes totaling just under $1,800 was approved. Additionally, the commissioners voted to pay Network Solutions, Inc. nearly $4,400 for the installation of software and computer equipment.
Stinson added that once the move’s complete, the public will have a chance to visit the new facility. “After we get moved over there, we’re planning a big open house, approximately three weeks after the move, once we get settled,” she said, “get to know our new neighbors over there and kind of have a grand reopening of the Community Resource Center.”
The move will make room for the expansion of the County Prosecutor’s Office in the Marshall County Building.
