The next member of the Plymouth Common Council was introduced during Monday’s meeting. Bill Walters was selected to fill the remainder of Mike Delp’s term during a Republican Party caucus last week. Delp is stepping down from his at-large seat at the end of the year, following his election to the Marshall County Board of Commissioners.
Mayor Mark Senter congratulated Walters during Monday’s meeting, while poking fun at Delp’s new office. “On January 9, 2017, Mr. Walters will be sitting up here somewhere,” Senter said, “standing in, sitting in for Mr. Delp, who, um, is going to the dark side.”
Senter added that Walters has already shown dedication to his new job. “We look forward to your hard, diligent work,” he said. “You know, you’ve been here more than some of us, all year long, so we appreciate it.”
Also during Monday’s meeting, Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver announced that Abby Collins had been sworn-in as deputy clerk-treasurer on December 4.
