Work is wrapping up on Plymouth’s Boys & Girls Club Sanitary Sewer Relocation project. It paves the way for the replacement of much of the Boys & Girls Club facility with a new, larger one.
On Monday, the Plymouth Board of Works approved a second change order for the project. Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson says the change orders have led to a net increase of over $3,400 in the project’s cost.
He says the only remaining work is grass seeding, which will take place in the spring. The board authorized Mayor Mark Senter to sign a certificate of substantial completion for the project.
Meanwhile, Davidson said the Plymouth-Goshen Tail water main extension also continues to move ahead. “The 12-inch water main has all been installed from, basically, Michigan Street down to Randolph Street and over to Baker Street,” he said. “All the river crossings are complete. Right now, about half the main has been hydro-static tested and bacteria tested, and in those sections, the service connections are being made now.”
At the same time, a proposal to repair the parking lot behind the police station was received. Langfeldt Excavating offered to fix the hole in the parking lot for just under $34,000.
Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said the project’s timeline had to be adjusted after no bids were sent in, prior to the last board meeting. “What we did on this, we sent an addendum out to all three people we talked with,” he explained, “as a few of them had concerns about the time constraints.”
The board voted to allow Marquardt to review the proposal and decide whether to proceed. Under the revised timeline, Langfeldt Excavating would have until April 1 to complete the work.
Bids were also received for 2017 fuel supplies and street materials.
