Plymouth Board of Works Approves Bids for Fuel Supplies, Street Materials

The City of Plymouth will be paying a bit more for fuel supplies in 2017. On Tuesday, the board of works voted to ratify the city’s contract with North Central Co-op for $2.221 per gallon for diesel and $2.182 per gallon for gasoline, including taxes and fees. That’s about 50 cents more than last year for a gallon of diesel and 45 cents more for gasoline.

The board also voted to award bids for 2017 street materials to both IMI and Stockberger Trucking. Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said the city’s been using those suppliers for several years now. “Stockberger’s cheaper on a few. IMI’s cheaper on a few,” he explained. “Each has a little that the other doesn’t. So I just recommend we go like we have in the past and accept both of those for the year.”

The Plymouth Board of Works also accepted the proposal from Langfeldt Excavating to fix the hole in the police station parking lot for just under $34,000. That project is set to be complete by April 1.

During Tuesday’s meeting, board members also approved an amendment to the city’s agreement with Donohue & Associates for engineering work for the installation of a traffic signal at Oakhill and Michigan. Board member Mike Delp expressed some concern with the project’s cost and whether it will be completed before the start of the 2017-2018 school year, as planned.
