The Culver Boys & Girls Club may soon have to pay for the space it uses at Culver Elementary School.
Culver Schools Interim Superintendent Chuck Kitchell says the issue was discussed by the school board last week, “The discussion was, is it time to start charging a usage fee to help cover some of the costs: paper products, custodial [staff] having to go back over and clean restrooms a second time.”
He says that while the school corporation would like to keep the Boys & Girls Club in the building, the school board requested that the organization help with maintenance. “Basically, we’re going to ask the Boys & Girls Club if they can hire their own custodian to help with some of the cleaning after their day is done and possibly figure out some kind of a way to have them help us pay for some of the products that we use, the additional paper products and those things,” Kitchell explains.
He plans to meet with leaders of the organization to discuss the arrangement.
