Marshall County Investigation Leads to Arrest for August Arson

fireA fire dating back to early August has resulted in the arrest of a South Bend man.

Marshall County authorities say they were called to the 11-thousand block of 4A Road in the overnight hours of August 2nd to a report of a vehicle fire.

The car was parked in the driveway of a residence at the time. Investigators believed the incident to be suspicious in nature. Follow-up investigation estimated the damage at more than $5,000.

A witness at the scene was able to provide officers with a few details that eventually led to a suspect. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department says extensive investigation over the course of three months led to an arrest warrant being issued for Raymond Grummell, Sr. of South Bend.

He was taken into custody on Thursday in South Bend. Grummell, Sr. is facing Arson charges in the case.
