The Culver School Board has approved the corporation’s 2017 budget, but some additional cuts are expected. Treasurer Casey Howard reviewed some of the numbers for the school board Monday. “Our proposed 2017 expenditures are roughly $11,700,000,” she said. “Be prepared because [the Department of Local Government Finance] will reduce that number due to lack of fund balances and our decrease in students.” Culver Schools’ fall enrollment is 778.1, a 54-student drop from last year.
Howard said the corporation’s currently set to receive $5,088 per student, “We are asking that the board approve an adoption of $11.7 million, adopted tax levy of $4.4 million, and a tax rate of 0.5880.”
The school board voted to adopt the 2017 budget unanimously. Members also approved a resolution setting the appropriations and tax rates.
