Indiana State Police are recommending a few tips for safe Labor Day weekend travel.
Besides relatively heavy traffic around the country, ISP says motorists should also beware of impaired drivers during the evening and overnight hours. They will be conducting sobriety checkpoints around the state.
To maintain safe travel, State Police say you should leave early for your destination, ensure passengers are buckled, and to refrain from using cruise control in heavy traffic.
Not much rain is in the forecast locally, but ISP also says drivers should slow down in wet conditions. Getting enough sleep for your travels is also recommended. Drivers falling asleep at the wheel are especially prevalent during certain portions of the day.
