Five Receive Medical Treatment Following Buggy Crash

buggy crossingInjuries were reported on Monday evening in Marshall County following a vehicle versus buggy collision.

Officers were called to the area of U.S. 6 near the Playmore Campgrounds around 6:00 p.m. in response to the accident.

According to investigators, a car driven by 41-year-old Sean Pelikant is thought to have allegedly crashed into the rear of the buggy while traveling on the roadway. The impact is said to have destroyed the buggy and ejected the passengers.

Those inside the buggy, identified as 29-year-old Tobias Yoder, 6-year-old Jayden Yoder, and 3-year-old Maciah Yoder, and 1-year-old Ezekiel Yoder, were taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. 7-year-old Kenton Yoder was flown by helicopter to Fort Wayne’s Parkview Regional Medical Center. Each of the passengers was from the Bremen area.

The driver of the car reported no injuries in the incident and refused a medical evaluation.

Marshall County authorities say they are still investigating the incident.
