The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning for the Kankakee River at U.S. 30 until Friday afternoon. Flood stage is 10 feet. As of Sunday afternoon, the river was holding steady at 10.2 feet.
Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is forecast. A crest of 10.5 feet is expected this afternoon, but the river isn’t expected to fall below flood stage until early Thursday afternoon.
Flooding of secondary roads near the river begins when the water level hits 11 feet. The Kankakee River at U.S. 30 crested at 10.9 feet on June 1, 2015.
