Plymouth Community School Corporation staff members are receiving stipends, based on their evaluations from the 2014-2015 school year. This week, the Plymouth School Board approved stipends for certified, administrative, and classified staff.
Superintendent Dan Tyree told the school board that stipends for certified teachers were already included in their contracts. Teachers who were rated effective or highly effective on their evaluations get a $575.93 stipend, while those who took part in professional development get $335.50. Those meeting both of these criteria receive the total of both amounts. Business Manager Kandi Tinkey said these stipends were actually given out already, at the same time the Teacher Performance Grant stipends from the state were distributed.
Meanwhile, certified administrators will get a stipend of $900. Tyree said all were rated highly effective or better and all had been involved in professional development. However, Tyree did not request a stipend for himself.
Classified staff members will get stipends ranging from $300 to $900, based on the number of hours and months worked, as well as last year’s evaluations. Tyree said substitute teachers will not be getting stipends, since they’ve already received a raise. All stipends will be limited to staff members who worked for the corporation last year and still work there now.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the school board voted to allow the corporation to begin the process of hiring 11 teachers and an assistant principal for Riverside Intermediate School. Tyree says these hirings will be to replace staff members who are retiring or resigning. He says hiring will begin after spring break.
