Mediacom has announced plans make a billion dollars in capital investments over the next three years. As part of the initiative, the company says it will upgrade its broadband services to one gigabit per second for nearly all its home and business customers. In a statement, Mediacom says communities will start receiving the upgrades later this year.
Another part of the investment plan includes the addition of community WiFi at some commercial and public areas. The company also plans to expand its high-capacity network to thousands of new business customers in downtown areas and commercial districts, and extend its deep-fiber video, Internet, and phone network to pass an additional 50,000 homes.
Mediacom’s billion-dollar investment initiative comes as the company celebrates the 20th anniversary of the purchase of its first cable system.
