The Marshall County Commissioners plan to learn a bit about Gypsy Moths during their meeting this morning.
A representative of the DNR is slated to discuss the state’s treatment program for the pest – which has spread throughout the northeast and the great lakes regions. The insect causes major damage through its feeding habits to local foliage, but prefers oak trees. Sprays are often used in the treatment of the pest, as are disruptions to the insects’ mating habits. Exactly what the commissioners plan to do with the information remains to be seen.
The Marshall County EMA Department also plans to discuss a new deputy director position within the department.
Today’s meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Marshall County Building.
