A bit of erratic driving may have landed a LaPorte man in jail in Marshall County.
Officers received numerous phone calls around 8:19 a.m. on Monday about a possibly impaired driver heading eastbound on U.S. 30. The car was located by patrol vehicles and a traffic stop was conducted on the highway in the area of Michigan Road.
While investigating, deputies said they believed the driver, 30-year-old Brad Hudgins, was indeed driving while impaired. Specifically, officers say Hudgins was allegedly impaired by a controlled substance.
He was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for a chemical test. Hudgins was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Impaired on a Schedule I and II Controlled Substance.
He was booked at the Marshall County Jail on $3-thousand bond.
