Both spring break and summer vacation will start a little later for students at Culver Community Schools. The school board on Monday approved an adjustment to the school calendar, after two days were canceled last month due to snow.
The school corporation had already decided to make up for one of those days by holding class on Good Friday, March 25, the last makeup day built into the schedule. That means students will be starting their spring break a day later.
To make up for the other day, Interim Superintendent Chuck Kitchell suggested adding a day to the end of the school year, making the last day of school Friday, June 3 rather than Thursday, June 2. Kitchell said the goal was to avoid having to reschedule the graduation ceremony; it remains on June 3.
The school board approved the additional day, unanimously. School officials pointed out that this is the second year in a row the schedule has been adjusted in this way.
