The Plymouth Common Council looked a bit different when it met for the first time in 2016.
Mayor Mark Senter welcomed Gary Cook, Shiloh Fonseca, and Jeff Houin to a slightly larger council during Monday’s meeting. “Council members, I want to thank the new council members for being here this evening,” Senter said. “I hope that you are welcomed with open arms, and I look forward to working with all of you, all seven of you. This is the first time in Plymouth’s history that we’ve received seven members on the Common Council, and that’s because our population went up over the 10,000 mark in 2010. So again, welcome.”
As part of the shift to a larger council, an ordinance was brought to a first reading that will update references to the number of council members in the existing Code of Ordinances. Additionally, Don Ecker Jr. was chosen as mayor pro-tempore. During Monday’s meetings, the Common Council and Board of Works also set their meeting dates for 2016, with meetings staying at the second and fourth Mondays of most months.
