Benefit Planned for Former Plymouth Student Following December Car Accident

Plymouth High SchoolAn area restaurant and the Plymouth High School Band Department are joining forces to help a former student.

19-year-old Melissa Johnson is a recent graduate of the high school, but is now a college freshman at Indiana University South Bend. According to information provided by the organizers, Johnson was in a car accident on December 16th. She was airlifted from the scene to a Fort Wayne hospital where she is suffering from traumatic brain injury and a multiple bone fractures.

To help raise awareness, and aid in her recovery, the Plymouth Hacienda and the high school band are holding a benefit. Johnson worked at the restaurant part-time as a hostess.

A “Give Back” event has been scheduled for February 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. at the restaurant. The business says they will donate 20-percent of their sales to Johnson’s family to aid in medical expenses and to help provide other care.
