The Culver School Board is expected to formally accept Superintendent Vicki McGuire’s resignation this evening. McGuire is leaving Culver to take over as superintendent at the Eastern Hancock school corporation in Central Indiana.
The school board will also decide whether to formally appoint current Director of Operations Chuck Kitchell as interim superintendent. Additionally, they plan to formalize a committee for the process of hiring a new superintendent.
In other business, the school board is expected to formally accept a Secured School Safety matching grant from the state, now that the corporation has secured funding for its share after completing a bond refunding effort. The updated JESSE agreement will also be considered for approval this evening. When the updates were presented to the school board last month, McGuire estimated the new agreement would increase the corporation’s costs by nearly $5,000.
The school board will also decide whether to approve three resolutions transferring money from the Rainy Day Fund, and updates to the corporation’s administration guidelines will be brought to a first reading. The Culver School Board also plans to discuss the corporation’s new logo, as well as the potential addition of the National Archery in the Schools Program to Culver Schools. Grant funding is currently available to help implement the NASP program.
Also during tonight’s meeting, the board will also decide whether to reappoint Tom Kearns to the Culver Park Board.
The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Culver School Administration Building.
