A caucus will be held in a couple weeks to find a replacement for Matt Hassel as the Marshall County Council member for District 1. Hassel stepped down last week in order to become the new Marshall County Sheriff.
Marshall County Republican Party Chairman Dave Holmes says party officials will meet October 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Republican Party Headquarters in Plymouth to choose a replacement, “The only voters at this meeting will be from the district that Hassel served, which was German and Bourbon Township, the precinct people from those townships. I think there’s a total of five of them that will be voting.”
He says he hasn’t heard of any candidates filing for the position yet, “I haven’t really had many people express interest, so I’m hoping that there are some that are. We need people to step up for these jobs.”
He says people who’re interested in running should file a declaration of candidacy with the Marshall County Clerk’s office.
