A surprise school assembly on Tuesday morning saw Plymouth High School Principal James Condon recognized.
Condon was named Indiana’s Principal of the Year in November of 2014 by the Indiana Association of School Principals, but continues to receive recognition for his efforts. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski – while touring the district this week – presented Condon with the Congressional Record from when she spoke of his work on the house floor in July.
Condon says the secret was kept form him.
“I was totally shocked by first of all receiving the award this morning, and second, walking into a gymnasium with the entire student body and faculty,” says Condon. “I had no idea this was being planned.”
The assembly lasted about 20 minutes.
The Congressional Record is the official daily accounting of the debates and proceedings in the legislative branch.
Condon was one of several Principals from the Elementary, Middle, and High School level around the state. The IASP accepts nominations and proposes a stringent set of requirements prior to recognition.
Information provided by the school corporation says important benchmarks were achieved under Condon’s leadership, including a top 12 ranking in the state of Indiana, and providing a high percentage of AP courses for students.
