A Cleveland, Ohio-based developer wants to build apartments on the South Gateway property in Plymouth. NRP Group plans to apply for a low-income housing grant from the state.
City attorney Sean Surrisi told the board of works last night the developer has a very preliminary plan to build a four-story, 48-unit apartment building for older adults. The first floor will feature a common area facing the street, the outward appearance of which will be consistent with the rest of the downtown area.
The board of works approved a request to give NRP Group an option to purchase the city-owned lots in that location if they get the state grant. The first step in that process is getting two appraisals for the property. The average of the two will determine the purchase price. The option is good for 180 days. Surrisi says NRP should be ready to proceed late this year or early next year if the grant is approved.
Surrisi adds NRP Group was honored as the multi-family developer of the year by the National Association of Homebuilders. They have developed and managed more than 200 properties in 13 states, with more than 10,000 actual units.
