Culver will be wrapping up its summer season with a concert this evening.
According to the Culver Park Department, cover band “The Sandbar Bums” will be performing in the west end of the Town Park. The group is known for covering bands such as Jason Mraz, Journey, Bob Marley, and Cee Lo Green.
Park Superintendent Marc Hayden says if it’s successful, more events could be held.
“It’s the first time we’re trying to do this from the Park Department, and it’s something we hope to expand on next year with maybe a few more musical events,” says Hayden.
Those attending the concert will have to be in the park to hear the performance. “The Sandbar Bums” often perform on a floating device in the water for boaters, but that will not be included during this concert.
The concert is free to attend and is being put-on in cooperation with a Saturday triathlon in Culver. Dozens of athletes will be descending on Culver as part of the activities, many of which will be staying overnight.
Hayden says it should be an enjoyable setting.
“We were trying to do some type of an event on Friday night before the Saturday morning triathlon for people just to relax and enjoy themselves,” says Hayden.
The concert will take place between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. EDT.
