Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm Discovery

A traffic stop conducted in Marshall County on Monday led authorities to find an illegally possessed firearm.

Marshall County Police stopped a white Ford Edge, driven by 27-year-old Albert Johnson, on US 31 near 11th Road. Johnson was found to be driving on a suspended license.

An investigation of the Elkhart resident led Marshall County authorities to locate a handgun in the vehicle. According to information released by the Sheriff’s Department, Johnson has been previously been convicted as a felon.

He was booked at the Marshall County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon. That’s a Level 4 felony.
