Sobriety Checkpoint Set-up in Marshall County on Friday

The Marshall County DUI Task Force conducted DUI checkpoints on Friday evening.

The Task Force is made up of law enforcement from the Sheriff’s Department, and Bourbon, Bremen, Culver, and Plymouth Police Departments – who are working to decrease impaired driving.

According to information released by the task force, impaired driving is one of the most frequently committed crimes. In 2012, Indiana reported more than 6-thousand alcohol-related crashes. 158 of those were fatal.

The sobriety checkpoints were set-up to help deter and arrest drivers who are driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances. The checkpoint was located in central Marshall County.

Officers working overtime at the checkpoint are paid through grant funds.
