The vacancy opened after school resource officer Ted Brown was appointed to serve as Director of Public Safety with the Plymouth School Corporation has been filled.
Corporal Bridget Hite was recently appointed to the position of School Resource Officer.
She has been with the Plymouth Police Department since February of 2001. Her duties will officially begin in early August when students are scheduled to return to class.
A bit of training is needed before carrying out her duties, primarily at Plymouth High School and Lincoln Junior High School. Plymouth Police Chief Dave Bacon says she was chosen due to her background working with youth in the police department, and participating in various youth camps.
Hite will assist the school corporation with disciplinary and other safety measures when managing students.
Despite her new title, Hite is still a member of the Plymouth Police Department. When class is not in session, she will continue her duties on the force.
The appointment was made following an interview process.
