The Tippecanoe River near Ora is expected to crest Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. As of 10 this morning it was holding steady at 11.8 feet. That’s just below the 12 foot flood stage.
It’s expected to rise above that this afternoon and crest near 13.2 feet around 8 a.m. Sunday. At 13 feet flooding begins to affect streets and homes in Monterey. This crest compares to June 15, 2013 when the river crested at 13.4 feet.
The flood warning for the Kankakee River at U.S. 30 has also been extended until late Sunday night. It was at 10.6 feet and rising around mid-morning. Flood stage is 10 feet. Minor flooding is occurring, and minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to fall below flood stage around 1 a.m. Sunday. At 11 feet flooding of secondary roads near the river begins.
