Phase One of the renovation to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Plymouth is now complete.
The Health System is undertaking an extensive two-part construction project. Phase One oversaw the expansion of the Emergency Department – which now sits at a comfortable 8-thousand square feet.
According to a news release, the new emergency space increases bed capacity and streamlines emergency care. In addition, St. Joseph Regional Health System says that patient privacy is also increased.
Now that construction work has been finalized, the Emergency Department in Plymouth will begin accepting patients on Tuesday beginning at 5:00 a.m.
The hospital says there won’t be any disruptions in patient care as the staff and equipment is transitioned to the new facility.
Plans are currently to begin construction on Phase Two of the project after the new Emergency Department is up and running. The second phase involves renovating the previous emergency space.
Total cost for the project is estimated to be around $9-million.
