Plymouth School Board Considers Additional Services, Debt Refinance

The Plymouth School Corporation is preparing to make a few changes to both its finances and curriculum.

During Tuesday night’s regularly scheduled meeting, School Board members will consider adopting curricula recommended for social studies courses. Typically, committees review the available options for some time prior to introducing the curriculum for students.

The School Board will also consider a proposal to start the school day later on Monday morning during the 2015/16 school year. In addition, board members may soon agree to provide bus transportation from Argos and Culver to Plymouth for students residing outside the community.

In the meantime, a bit of money could be saved with a resolution being proposed, tonight. The School Corporation may refinance its pension bonds. Those bonds were initially issued in 2004 to meet pension obligations, but about half their amount is outstanding.

The school corporation believes it can save funds to meet other obligations by refinancing the existing debt.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 7:00 at the Administration Building.
