Plymouth City Attorney Elected IMLA President

Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi is the newly-elected president of the Indiana Municipal Lawyers Association. The professional organization promotes the continuing education of attorneys on issues affecting municipal law and provides forums for town, city and county attorneys to meet and exchange ideas.

Surrisi is among the organization’s 350 members. He’s served on the litigation committee since 2012, was elected to the board of directors in 2013 and later held the office of vice-president. Surrisi says in a statement his work for the city of Plymouth has benefited from insights learned from IMLA attorneys.

He is among several Plymouth officials who have served in various capacities on statewide boards and commissions. Mayor Mark Senter is currently a member of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns board of directors and previously served as president of the Indiana Conference of Mayors. Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver is active with the Indiana League of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers. The Mayor’s Secretary, Laura Mann, is a past president of the Indiana Mayors Assistants Association. Former city attorney Nelson Chipman served as IMLA president during his tenure as city attorney before being elected Marshall County Prosecutor.
