The first official event of the 49th annual Marshall County Blueberry Festival is Sunday night. A total of 22 young women from throughout Marshall County are competing for the honor of being crowned “Miss Blueberry 2015.” The pageant will take place at 7 p.m. at Argos High School. Admission is $5.
Prior to the pageant, each contestant will have a personal interview with the panel of judges Sunday morning. This year’s pageant theme is “Heroes Among Us.” During the pageant each contestant will be evaluated on evening and theme wear representing their favorite hero.
The 2015 Miss Blueberry will receive a $1,250 scholarship, a crown, cut glass bowl, blueberry necklace and a portrait. The first runner up will get a $750 scholarship and a cut glass bowl; and the second runner up will get a $500 scholarship and cut glass bowl. The queen and runners up will represent the festival at several parades throughout the summer as well as at various activities during the Blueberry Festival.
The contestants will also select Miss Friendship. She will get a $100 cash award and a heart shaped cut glass bowl.
