Officials at Riverside Intermediate School in Plymouth have extended bids on a state-of-the-art doghouse built as a class project for another week. Fifth grade students and their teachers built the canine palace with grant funds as part of a mentoring project. They decided to auction it off and donate proceeds to the Marshall County Humane Society. The sale was supposed to end last Friday, but a last-minute bid of $350 from a Mishawaka family and a flurry of phone calls prompted them to set a new deadline.
The doghouse will now be sold to the highest bidder at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29 when the school day ends. It can be viewed at Riverside Intermediate School in Plymouth during business hours of 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
