Culver Anticipates Housing Development, Restaurant Expansion After Ordinance Changes

The Culver Town Council made quick work of several ordinances working their way through the hurdles.

Those items have been extensively discussed during previous public hearings, as well as a first reading earlier this month by the Town Council.

Among the ordinances being considered last night was rezoning land for an anticipated private housing development. The 30 units, known as Maple Ridge Villas, could be rented, but are expected to be sold at a price of up to $250-thousand.

The Town of Culver’s Plan Commission placed a high level of scrutiny on water drainage at the site. A private green space is also being considered as part of the plans. According to previous discussion, housing will be developed in phases over the next 18 months.

Town Council members, last night, also approved rezoning Papa’s Pizza from C-2 to C-1. The designation typically identifies commercial land.

The local eatery is planning to expand its kitchen as well as the seating inside the restaurant. The zoning change was required to accommodate the expansion.

Papa’s Pizza will move from a zoning of C-2 to C-1. The Culver Town Council amended the ordinance on first reading to disallow the Original Root Beer stand from similarly changing zoning for aesthetic reasons. Problems were cited with an adjacent residential neighborhood.

The Town Council approved both measures on second reading and suspended the third reading. The move allows both projects to proceed.
