Multiple government agencies are partnering to give students scholarship opportunities.
The scholarships have been conducted in the past to help promote safe driving behind the wheel – especially when it comes to teens using their mobile devices. The “Drive Now. TXT L8R” campaign gives $5-thousand scholarships.
The individual departments have been promoting knowledge about the dangers of texting while driving for some time. The Lieutenant Governor’s office, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and Indiana Department of Transportation are participating in the promotion.
To qualify for scholarship applications students are asked to engage their social media followers. Interested applicants are asked to write the most creative social media posts on Twitter, Instagram, and Vine.
The Indiana Department of Transportation noted in a press release that social media posts conducted while driving will be disqualified.
The contest will be ongoing in the month of April.
