Governor Mike Pence is marking this week for those helping to upgrade the state’s infrastructure.
Starting today and running through Friday, Indiana will be observing Work Zone Awareness week. This week marks the ceremonial beginning of road construction in the state.
Pence intends to use the opportunity to raise awareness about safety for both workers and motorists. According to information released by the Indiana State Police, $1.3-billion will be invested in construction in 2015.
11 workers were killed and more than 600 were injured in Indiana highway work zones last year. INDOT says most of the accidents were caused by rear-end collisions and making improper lane changes.
