Ancilla College Officials Finalizing Residence Hall Construction Plans

Ancilla College officials hope to break ground on the school’s first residence hall within the next three to four weeks. Vice President of Development Todd Zeltwanger says the school’s board of trustees approved the construction late last year.

“By August we hope to have a three-story residence hall with about 96 beds ready for occupancy for students from all over the area to come and live on campus and experience Ancilla College in a whole new way,” Zeltwanger said.

“Now we can turn our admissions counselors loose to go out into Indianapolis and Fort Wayne and Chicago and Ohio and Michigan and those areas to high schools, Catholic and non-Catholic high schools, and say ‘hey, we’ve got a special place in north central Indiana that is a gem.’ We really believe it,” he added.

The residence hall will be built just north of the Catherine Kasper home just north of 9B road. Zeltwanger says Ancilla is working with a Fort Wayne-based builder who specializes in residence hall construction. Zeltwanger says they’ve built a similar structure at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne. He says it will be built off-site and brought to the campus to be set up. The residence hall will also feature a student fitness center and a dining hall.
