Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend is hosting a half-day seminar on Saturday, Nov. 8th on the criminal records expungement process. The program educates residents about Indiana’s criminal expungement law and eligibility requirements. The expungement process is an option for a person seeking to have an arrest or criminal conviction removed from their record. Attendees can schedule a meeting with an Ivy Tech specialist and learn how to prepare proper documentation to file for expungement. Family members wishing to gather information on behalf of someone else are also encouraged to attend. There is no cost for the seminar and no RSVP is required.
Ivy Tech Community College Paralegal Studies Program Chair Marcus Ellison says “The goal of Second Chance Law Day is to help remove barriers for people who are looking to leave their past dealings with the criminal justice system behind, and instead provide an opportunity for them to gain better access to employment, housing, and education,” said Ellison.
The seminar takes place in the Ivy Café on the Ivy Tech South Bend campus and begins at 9 a.m. ET on Nov. 8th.
